Kathy Romack has worked for 32 years in the Christian Hospital Lab and is a technical coordinator in the Christian Hospital Laboratory’s Flow Cytometry and Hematology Department.
In your job, how do you provide our patients with your best medicine?
I started working the night shift and did all areas of the Lab. Then I went to Toxicology and then went to Hematology and in the last year I’ve been technical coordinator for Flow Cytometry and Hematology. I think the longevity of being here and having the expertise and experience is how I provide my best medicine with the type of testing we do because the Flow Cytometry Lab is very specialized and individual department. We did just get a new piece of state-of the-art equipment so that is another way we provide best medicine.
What is your favorite thing/or most rewarding about your job?
I like everything about my job. I think it always comes down to the people. We’ve all been here so long. We’ve been through weddings, children and now with a lot us here 30-plus years we’re getting into the grandchildren. I enjoy the work I’ve done otherwise I wouldn’t have been here for so long.
Why do you choose to work at Christian Hospital?
Number one, I live in the community. I’m about 10 minutes from here. I think it’s very beneficial to work in the community in which you live. We’re serving the people that are my peers and neighbors.
