2019 BJC Book Brigade is Back
The BJC Book Brigade is back. From Feb. 11-March 15, BJC will collect online book donations to give every graduating second-grader attending public school in the communities BJC serves a new book to read during the summer of 2019.
Entering the fourth year of the BJC Book Brigade, BJC has provided more than 73,000 second-graders with a new book to read during their summer vacation. This year, BJC is expected to provide 26,000 books to nearly 400 elementary schools throughout the communities BJC serves, including St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. Charles County, Columbia, Sullivan and Farmington in Missouri; and Alton, Belleville and Shiloh in Illinois.
Studies have shown that a third-grader’s reading proficiency can improve the likelihood they will graduate from high school and live a healthier life, which is why all BJC donations will go to graduating second-graders.
Everyone is invited to visit BJCBooks.org to purchase your book donation online. The BJC Book Brigade program is open to everyone, including patients, families and friends. Each book costs only $2.50, thanks to BJC’s partnership with Scholastic books.
Contact Alice Dunlap, BJC communications and marketing consultant II, [email protected], or Emily Brasel, BJC communications director, [email protected], with questions.
Make your BJC Book Brigade online donation before March 15
