Gun Safety for Children

By: Christian Hospital    377 0

Christian Hospital has teamed with St. Louis Children’s Hospital and BJC HealthCare to provide free gun locks to the community that can be used in your own home and given to friends or family where your children play.

Why is gun safety important?

  • More than 44 million Americans own firearms.
  • Children have the ability to fire guns.
  • Firearm injuries cause more deaths in people ages 1-24 than any other type of injury — including car accidents.
  • Suicide risk is five times more likely if there is a gun in the home.
  • A gun kept in the home triples the risk of homicide.

A “No Questions Asked” free gun lock basket is located in the emergency departments at Christian Hospital and Northwest HealthCare.

For more information, visit StLouisChildrens.org/safetystop or call 314.565.0369.

If you know of an organization wanting to help distribute gun locks, please email, [email protected].
