By: Alex Graff    1817 0

Give STL Day 2018 LogoMay 2 marks Give STL Day, and we’re excited to announce that Christian Hospital Foundation has joined the campaign. Now in its fifth year, Give STL Day has raised more than $7.5 million for local charitable organizations that improve, support and enrich our communities.

Your contributions to the Christian Hospital Foundation on Give STL Day – and throughout the year – fund community health projects, patient care and hospital improvements. So mark your calendar, and plan to join tens of thousands of St. Louisans on May 2 for this day of collective kindness.

Visit the Foundation’s Give STL Day page to give.

Serving as a link between the hospital and community it serves, the Christian Hospital Foundation helps pay for everything from direct patient care to public health programs.

Here’s a sample of what the Foundation has accomplished over the past 18 months with the financial support of generous individuals and businesses…

  • Six scholarships awarded to local high school students as part of the “Embracing the Dream – The Beloved Community” celebration in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
  • Fundraising support of school-based health clinics opening soon in north St. Louis high schools.
  • Direct community health care and screenings, including:
    1,500 flu shots
    100 mammograms
500 cancer and heart health screenings
    $80,000 in medication
  • Full scholarships, including tuition, books and uniforms, awarded to incoming students of the CHEMS Academy.
  • Glucose meters and supply kits provided to 200 diabetic patients, along with the launch of a new text reminder program to help these patients manage their diabetes.
  • $95,000 provided for patient care through CHAP, a program to treat and educate non-emergent patients in their own homes, thereby helping them to avoid unnecessary ER visits.
  • Financial support of the Just Lose It community weight-loss challenge. Now in its eighth year, the program has helped thousands of area residents to lose weight and manage their health through education, fitness classes, cooking demos and other activities.
  • Successful launch of the Caregivers Conference, now in its second year, which connects hundreds of local caregivers with professional resources, education and new relationships.
  • More than 55 patients to-date have avoided open-heart surgery, thanks to the availability of the TAVR. This advanced procedure is performed in the CH Hybrid Room, for which the Foundation raised more than $2 million.
  • Recognition of nurses, PCTs, providers and staff members by patients and their families through the Heart of a Hero program.
  • Twenty-eight new pieces of artwork placed throughout the hospital as part of the Legacy Prints program, which honors or memorializes the loved ones of those who sponsored them.
  • The Tree of Giving, located on the 4th floor of the hospital, grew with new dedications to those who have battled cancer, giving hope to patients and visitors who pass it.
  • Five mobile device charging stations placed in waiting areas throughout Christian Hospital and Northwest HealthCare to help patients and visitors stay connected.
  • Update to the Kids Corner at Northwest HealthCare to give children a space of their own in the waiting area.
