The power of community partnership has been on full display at Greater Grace Church since uniting with Operation Food Search and Christian Hospital to provide food on a regular basis since September 2020 to more than 15,000 families.

Lafayette Gatewood III, 56, of St. Louis, Mo., has been a high school teacher and football coach for 28 years. In July of 2019, Lafayette was on the football field at practice, like he is most days, when he developed a blister on his foot. With a history of diabetes and kidney failure, he became particularly worried when his foot swelled up.

Established in 2014, the Community Health Access Program (CHAP) is an initiative by Christian Hospital to remove health barriers that exist in vulnerable communities. These barriers can range from health literacy and a lack of caregiver support to less directly related barriers, such as limited access to transportation, inadequate housing and financial resource strain, among many others.
