Christian Hospital Foundation made a significant impact in 2017
The Christian Hospital Foundation serves as a link between the hospital and community. The Foundation’s events and campaigns help pay for patient care, hospital improvements, public health programs and staff education.
Through the generous contributions of our community members, staff and providers, and area businesses, the Foundation made a significant impact in 2017…
Community health initiatives provided for:
- 1,500 flu shots
- 100 mammograms
- 500 cancer and heart health screenings
- $80,000 in medication
A full scholarship, including tuition, books and uniform, was awarded for a new student to attend the CHEMS Academy.
Two hundred glucose meters and supply kits were provided to diabetic patients. A new text reminder program was also successfully launched to help patients manage their diabetes.
In partnership with AARP and the Christian Hospital Auxiliary, the first Caregivers Conference was held at CH in September. More than 200 area caregivers came together for support and resources.
$95,000 was provided for patient care through CHAP, a program to treat and educate non-emergent patients in their own homes, thereby helping them to avoid unnecessary ER visits.
More than 55 patients to-date have avoided open-heart surgery, thanks to the availability of TAVR. This advanced procedure is performed in the hospital's hybrid room, for which the Foundation raised more than $2 million.
Financial support of the Just Lose It weight-loss challenge encouraged 700 community members to get healthy and active—resulting in more than 2,000 pounds lost!
Dozens of nurses, PCTs, providers and staff members were recognized by patients and their families through the Heart of a Hero program.
The Tree of Giving, located on the hospital's 4th floor, grew with new dedications to those who have fought cancer, bringing hope and connection to those who pass it.
Through the Legacy Prints program, 28 new pieces of artwork were placed throughout the hospital. All these prints honor or memorialize the loved ones of those who sponsored them.
Five mobile device charging stations were placed in waiting areas throughout Christian Hospital and Northwest HealthCare to help patients and visitors stay connected.
The Kids Corner at Northwest HealthCare was updated to give children a space of their own in the waiting area.
